Bohemian Console Makeover

  1950's Zenith Radio and Cobra-Matic Record Player Console Cabinet 36"Hx34"Wx16"D Sold! I was so excited to work on this one. A gift from my mother after she had just bought it straight out of an old barn. It was dusty and dirty, but I could see its potential. It's a smaller piece so I knew I could go wild on this one. I wanted a crazy Bohemian look so I used a spray bottle technique I learned from The Turquoise Iris . Painting furniture is so much more fun when you just go for it!  And that is exactly what I did.  Gay Lena Before and After Steps I used to get the Bohemian look Yummy colors! Circa 1980's French Provincial Style Chest Original Wood Veneer Top Scrollwork and details highlighted using dark wax Take a look and see how I transformed a  "not so pretty" chest of drawers into this  beautiful turquoise work of art. The piece was in really great shape and needed very little sanding... I sanded the top so the darker stain would penetrate the wood grain. I rubbed vaseline on the edges of the drawers and on various areas of the chest to make sanding and distressing a lot easier. SalvagedInspirations has a great tutorial on how to use vaseline to distress furniture. Leg detail before paint and dark wax With one coat of paint you can see the vaseline coming through.
