Tennessee Autumn and Polar Bear Pumpkins

Image
It's easy to make a Fall display using old pallets, crates, pumpkins and acorns.  Take a look and get inspired! Try to use all natural material gathered from nature. Almost everything you need is in your backyard. The bears, squirrels, chipmunks and the deer will not go hungry this winter. The woods are brimming with acorns and hickory nuts.  An old church birdhouse finds another use Dried hydrangea showing off their Fall colors I got these old weathered pallets at my local Farmers Co-Op for free. Love them! Spanish moss used between the pumpkins. Green moss looks great too.   Dried hydrangea and burlap wreath    The best thing about Fall...decorating with scarecrows and pumpkins! The large white pumpkin is called Polar Bear. Cinderella pumpkins are layered on top.  All of my pumpkins were bought at the local farmer's market . Signal Mountain Nursery

Image
One of the best things about my daughter deciding to attend college in Chattanooga, Tennessee is that I can visit my favorite nursery when I visit her. Signal Mountain Nursery  is located on top of Signal Mountain on the Cumberland Plateau, and it just happens to be one of the most beautiful mountaintop communities on the planet. My surprise "find" during this trip was the "The Rising Sun"™ Redbud. I was drawn like a moth to a flame to this beautiful specimen tree. Read more about this spectacular tree below and enjoy some of the photos I took at the nursery.     Hydrangeas!  One of several greenhouses filled to the brim with hydrangeas. I was in heaven. Hydrangea paniculata "Vanilla Strawberry" "Great Star" Hydrangea Coneflowers! An ocean of coneflowers...too many to choose from.  Coneflower and tall Pink Phlox "The Rising Sun"™ Redbud (My new favorite specimen tree)

White Waterfall Makeover

Image
I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid for this vintage waterfall chest of drawers. It was sitting in the rain at the infamous 127 Yard Sale when I spotted it. I threw out a number and before you know it, it was in my truck. Yay for me! Dimensions are 4'H, 2'6"W, 1'5"D Just a little repair work to the veneer. I'm not even sure how I learned to do this. I guess I spent a lot of time with my Papaw in his garage. Someone had painted it tan and gold. :( Taking advice from Kimberly at Glowing Ginger- Signs and More , I chose paint colors that would appeal to more people. Swiss Coffee and Royal Navy   Sides of drawers painted navy I painted the solid oak handles a metallic silver. The results I used the same metallic silver to highlight the side details.  I brushed on the metallic paint and wiped off the excess.  Some of my favorite things in the world...vintage French books.   This

The Velvet Chair

This mid-century vintage vanity chair was almost buried amidst piles of clothes and other furniture pieces...but it caught my eye. "Look At Me" it said. "I was beautiful once. My crushed velvet was classy red and I was loved." I bought other pieces of furniture that day and almost left without the chair. But at the last minute, I decided to take it home and give it a good cleaning, a little "makeup" and a little love. For sale $75. GardenandEasel@gmail.com or text 931-488-8894 for more info. "Makeup" Navy Fringe. Found this at a local fabric store...hiding in the remnants.
