Coffee Cups and Veterans

An odd combination...but hear me out. I stumbled across this vintage cup and saucer and it immediately made me think of my gregarious Papaw Stover. Well, you see, Grandma would bring him his boiling hot morning coffee and he would immediately pour the coffee into the saucer.

And after a few seconds, the very hot coffee was drinkable.
Tongue scorching averted.

So on this Veteran's Day 2017, I drink this cup of Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce, brewed in a Keurig, coffee, in honor of the best grandfather in the world.

So many of our soldiers were sent to Europe during the war.
Papaw served in Italy.

We're going home!
I'm so thankful Papaw survived the war.

Soldiers coming home from WW1.

And they didn't want coffee. ;)

This is Papaw Stover.
The man who taught me how to milk a cow, mend a fence, slop the hogs, sharpen a knife, split wood, stoke a fire, stack hay, identify herbs, do masonry work, plant a garden, prune trees, pour concrete, whistle and whittle. But mostly he taught me how to have faith.
