Regal Roll Top Desk & Bookshelf Makeover



This unappreciated piece of furniture caught my eye the second I saw it. I had to have it! I had to paint it! I threw out a price to the shopkeeper and within minutes we were loading it in my truck. 


                                                                         
Painted with black Valspar chalk paint, distressed and sealed with polyacrylic...this piece is almost 7 feet tall and will make a bold statement in any room. 
The top is removable...making it easy to move.

Pull down the roll top and this could be your new "junk drawer."

(In October 2018 I took the plunge and painted this vanity old world blue. I think it is prettier than ever.) Turn-of-the-Century French Vanity  With Refinished Top 37"HX49"WX19"D I bought this gorgeous piece from a local thrift center. I was excited to find cards and letters in the drawers with California addresses on them. So I assume the piece traveled from California before settling here in Tennessee. Only the top has been restored. The rest of the vanity and settee have the original paint and copper patina. Queen Anne's Lace with Flair

Queen Anne's Lace ( Wild Carrot ) is found in abundance along the roadsides of Tennessee this time of the year.  Take time to pick a bunch and give it a pop of color... It's fun and easy to do.   What to do: Just add food coloring and water to tiny bottles or vases.... And in the morning you will wake up to this! This will become.... This little beauty. Try not to dilute your mixture too much...the colors will be stronger.   Enjoy your creation for many days to come!

Signal Mountain Nursery

One of the best things about my daughter deciding to attend college in Chattanooga, Tennessee is that I can visit my favorite nursery when I visit her. Signal Mountain Nursery  is located on top of Signal Mountain on the Cumberland Plateau, and it just happens to be one of the most beautiful mountaintop communities on the planet. My surprise "find" during this trip was the "The Rising Sun"™ Redbud. I was drawn like a moth to a flame to this beautiful specimen tree.
