This unappreciated piece of furniture caught my eye the second I saw it. I had to have it! I had to paint it! Nothing says "classic" like a black and white photograph. And this piece is well deserved to be called a classic. I rescued it from the dusty corner of an antique shop and then brought back to life with a can of black paint and some good old fashioned elbow grease.  Sold March 2018! Chalk paint is the way to go. Any brand will do or you can make your own like these from Salvaged Inspirations.  I used Valspar chalk paint from Lowes in Kettle Black .  After two coats of paint, I distressed the edges with a medium grade sandpaper and sealed it with two coats of Minwax Polyacrylic.  Tres Chic! I sanded the top with my Craftsman sheet sander and then stained it with Minwax penetrating stain.  I mixed English Chestnut with Espresso to get this dark color. It is sealed with Minwax high gloss Polyurethane. I found these three little vases at my local Threads of Hope thrift store.   What a transformation! ...

A gift from my mother after she had just bought it straight out of an old barn. It was dusty and dirty, but I could see its potential. It's a smaller piece so I knew I could go wild on this one. This cute antique dresser on caster wheels was full of surprises. On the outside it looked like any normal 1930's chest of drawers, but two of the drawers were converted to pull-downs with display shelves. I have been wanting to paint something blue for a long time and finally found the perfect piece.    49"Hx34"Wx19"D  $275 SOLD! Access in the back to add back lighting.  Emblem detail  I used a palette knife and layered on bronze, silver, blue and white paint.  Brass hardware painted blue and brushed with white and silver.  The classic Before and After photo After a light sanding and before adding 2 coats of paint.  I used a flat Olympic Paint & Primer in Paradise Blue. An odd combination...but hear me out. I stumbled across this vintage cup and saucer and it immediately made me think of my gregarious Papaw Stover. Well, you see, Grandma would bring him his boiling hot morning coffee and he would immediately pour the coffee into the saucer.  And after a few seconds, the very hot coffee was drinkable.  Tongue scorching averted.   So on this Veteran's Day 2017, I drink this cup of Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce, brewed in a Keurig, coffee, in honor of the best grandfather in the world.     Wesley Grace Stover  1893-1983 So many of our soldiers were sent to Europe during the war.  Papaw served in Italy.   We're going home!  I'm so thankful Papaw survived the war.  Soldiers coming home from WW1.  And they didn't want coffee. ;) This is Papaw Stover.  The man who taught me how to milk a cow, mend a fence, slop ...
